Week 5: Three Brain Network

7. Summary/Save

This little exercise shows that all three brain networks are working when you do something as simple as view an image. Look at your notes below and you will see that each network contributes something vital to the task. This is true of everything we do and everything we learn.
At this point you can:

My Three Brain Networks

The Unexpected Visitor

Recognition Network

Items I recognized:
Floor, Chair, People, Pictures, Door Frame, Table

Strategic Network

How old are the people in this picture?
Range of agesMan- 30s
Women at door-early 20s
Woman Standing-20s
Woman Sitting at piano- 20s
Little Boy- 6 or 7
Little Girl-10 or 11

What historical period and geographical location do you think this picture represents? Why?
1800s --- clothing, and furniture style

How might the people be feeling in this picture?
The woman standing seems a little surprised. The people around her look very confused/interested in who this man is or that he is there.

Affective Network

What in particular strikes you about this picture?
The mystery of it. You have to make up a story in your mind because you are not sure what it might be about. I see three main people; the man, the woman by the chair, then the women at the door. Once I look at it longer I then notice the people in the back.

Note something about yourself that might have led you to focus on these particular aspects:
When I look at art, I always look at the bigger picture then look at the finer details. I love to make up stories in my mind about picture and then read what the artist was trying to convey.
